It’s teacher James here writing from the Thai / Burma border amidst floods and fighting.
For those of you who didn’t know I took some time out from teaching with EC Brighton English language school to come to work with Burmese refugees.
Essentially I am on a 3 month placement with the objective of training the Burmese refugee teachers how to best approach the difficult job of teaching English with little or no resources to hand (see pics of classrooms).

My brother Terence and I were oddly close as children, in fact, my first word was ‘brother’.
He was also the first person to make me laugh.
Our four year age gap meant that he could look after me without me feeling irritated by him doing so.

I think every girl imagines their wedding day. Mine includes a long white dress, a beautiful hall, my friends and family and lots and lots of chocolate donuts...
However, every country has different wedding traditions and young ‘brides to be’ dream about different things.

Don’t worry, it’s not here to attack earth. It’s the seed from a tree called the horse chestnut tree coming out of its capsule. The seed is called a conker. In autumn in the UK people use conkers to play a game called..... conkers.
I am about to start my masters degree (Monday, wish me luck!) so this type of article, which debates whether university is worth its cost, is extremely interesting to me. I sincerely hope that a year of studying hard will have a good outcome! In this article, I have removed some of the key vocabulary, but as it is of intermediate standard, I have not given you any of the definitions. All you need to do is put the correct word in each gap.
