Ninety percent of today’s web users live in non-English speaking countries, yet 56% of online content is in English. Like English is considered the language of international business, English is also the unofficial language of the internet.

The internet is changing the English language, for example 'to Google' is a transitive verb meaning to use a search engine to find information. Seeing as you are using our website to learn English, you probably know quite a lot of internet related vocabulary!

Today we're going to play a little game called Call my Bluff.

In this activity we have chosen ten unusual words. Each word has two descriptions of the word; only one of which is true. You must then guess the true definition.

The Script are an Irish rock band who have become very popular in the past few years. You do not have to listen to the whole song, just the first couple of verses. Before you listen to the song and try to complete the gaps, follow these steps:

1. Read through the lyrics, can you guess which word fits where before you listen?
2. Listen to check your answers.

Do you want to learn something new today? These four words are quite similar and it can be complicated to understand which one you need to use.

Something means a thing that is unknown. It is often used in positive sentences.

Anything means a thing of any kind. Use it in questions and negative sentences. It can also be used to to mean I don't mind.

Let's practise job vocabulary! Below are ten jobs, can you match the job to the thing that person may say?

For Example:

"You need to clean your teeth twice a day." = dentist

Time is like money, we never seem to have enough of it! Do you think you manage your time wisely? Are you good at getting things done on time? Today we look at 14 phrasal verbs that are related to how we use time.

Did you know that 93% of communication is through body language, while only 7% of communication consists of words! This low percentage means that saying the words “I'm sorry” doesn't mean much when your tone and body language do not reflect sorriness. Nonverbal communication ranges from facial expression to body language. Gestures, signs, and use of space are also important in nonverbal communication.
